Spam fighting software??

Hello,

Please excuse me.... I'm not the most computer-literate :)

I'm having a major issue with SPAM inundating my sympatico account. I never had a problem with it before...but in the past month or so I've suddenly been receiving approximately 30+ spam emails daily (likely from the same company/operation.....the subject lines are all similar....but each one has a unique email addy)

I have blocked and "bounced to sender" each addy....however it hasn't stopped the flow.

I use Incredimail as my email program - there is no "junk mail" filter to utilize.

Does any one have any recommendations for a dowloadable spam fighter?

Thank-you in advance

Never respond to spam. Never. Just delete it. Responding (or bouncing back) lets them know they've found an active account.

This is the message that is sent when I "bounce to sender"

This is an automatically generated Delivery Status Notification.

The original message was received at Tue, 13 Apr 2004 04:02:31 -0500
from

I'm sorry to inform you that the message you have sent
could not be delivered to one or more destinations.

----- The following addresses had permanent delivery errors -----
<**********@sympatico.ca>: (unrecoverable error)

----- Transcript of session follows -----
mail.local: unknown name: ***********
550 <************@sympatico.ca>: User unknown in virtual mailbox table

Still not a good idea to bounce the messages then? errrrrr

I never open the messages....and my Incredimail blocks external images when email is opened as an extra precaution.

Thank-you for the software tip....I will look into it :)

The clever spammers "spoof" or mask their FROM address to look like someone elses. In some cases an address that doesn't even exist, which would explain the mail delivery error.

I've learned to live with spam. Just delte them as someone suggested. Download all the anti-spam software you want, they'll never go away.
