sp vs. mp which is better?

I have seem to have created a lot of controversy on another board with regard to the benefits of a sp vs. a mp. With a sp it is pretty much a given what the expectation is. With a mp it is not. We all do some tipping with a mp and always hope for the best. Who knows what the cost might be? And what we get.
I have a simple solution for this. In Nevada you are presented with a menu. It discribes all the options with prices. Going in, you choose what your preferences will be. Like an a la carte restaurant. Based on your choices, you are presented with several waitresses to assist you. You make your choice, and enjoy! Bon appetite---

They are two very different experiences, not necessarily to be compared. I go to them for very different reasons, so to pit them against each other like thismakes no sense to me.
