True Story

A friend emailed me that she was stopped at the Delta Chelsea last night. The security officer demanded to see her i.d and subsequently went through her purse contents. He would not allow her to go up the elevator for the appointment, explaining that the hotel policy promoted "family values". Note: She is always dressed conservatively and was in the lobby at 9:45 pm.
He threatened to call the police if she did not leave the premises immediately.

What would you do?

Kick him in the testicles LOL sorry couldn't resist.
I would say that she doesn't have much choice in the matter. She could call the gentlemen's room and ask if he could come down to escort here up. Just a thought.

I could understand if she was scantily dressed but as you mentioned she was dressed conservatively which makes me wonder? was she??
For him to stop her and question her makes me wonder especially at 9:45pm.

Delta Chelsea

The Delta Chelsea has a reputation on being "vigilant"/anti SP ... I think Kara posted a warning previously.

I guess I was just shocked that he would go through her purse - even though you are on private property, I would imagine that searching someone's purse is not permitted in this circumstance.

Delta Chelsea Truth

I was never stopped at Delta Chelsea... however, I know many ladies who hate to even walk into the hotel!

Here's the truth about Delta Chelsea!

One day the owner of the Delta Chelsea got caught with an SP in his Hotel. Who caught him?...his wife!!! Ever since then, the Delta Chelsea has been the "anti SP" Hotel.

IF any of you ladies get a booking at Delta Chelsea, brush up on your UK accent and walk in there with suit case! Fake ID a plus!

He's not a cop.
He has no right to go through her purse.
she should have refused ,walked outside and called the client from her cell phone and ask him to come get her.

If I was the client and this was a regular lady that I see, that security guard would'nt have a job.
I would simply tell the hotel this lady was my girlfriend and I demand an apology (hoping they will compensate me for their ignorance) :p

First. the lady should never have allowed security to inspect her purse. They have no right to do that unless they suspect weapons or bombs, which is hardly the case. Secondly, it was probably a combination of factors as already suggested. The later at nite she arrives, the more suspicious it seems as the traffic of people in the lobby declines. Also, what's tasteful attire in one person's mind may not be in another's. It can be very subjective.
A good idea may be for the escort to phone the client prior to her arrival to ask about the layout of the lobby. He can tell her exactly where the elevators are located. Then when she arrives she can walk in confidently on direct route to the elevators, instead of looking lost & searching for where they are. She may
even be considered a guest herself, if she walks in a direct manner as if she knows where she's going, & appears confident & is conservately dressed. Another idea is for the client to let her know what he is wearing, & meet her in the lobby just near the elevators or in the bar or coffee shop, if it's open. Then they can just go up together. Since this particular hotel seems to be on the lookout for SP's, & for what its worth, that's my advice in the future. Better to plan ahead & be safe, than sorry!

Fortunately, I've never been stopped at the Delta Chelsea either and my first time there I asked the Desk Clerk where the elevators were - must have been the UK accent.

I find this very surprising.......

Is not the Delta the LARGEST hotel in Toronto?

I drive by this hotel everyday on my way to and from my other 'job'.

And the lobby of that place is ALWAYS busy, both day and night.
And this hotel is a 'airport shuttle bus' pick up/dropp off point.

I have never been stopped at any hotel. I think looking lost and confused, even if you are dressed conservatively, will draw attention to anyone from security. And when he approched her she probably acted NERVOUS, and muffled when he started to question her, giving herself away.

I would have acted very offended that he implied that I was an escort LOL. Privately called my client and explain that he had to come downtstairs to get me . What would the security guard really do..... 'physically' stop the both of us from going upstairs? he would regret that for the rest of his life! Demanded to speak his supervisor, get everyones name, and threaten to call their head office to make a complaint about such intrusive and rude treatment. And I think because the large amount of business Toronto hotels have lost due to SARS this would not go over too well with upper management.

Back in the USSR, eh.
This happened to an SP that was visiting me one night in Toronto. I can't really remember which hotel it was, but I don't really think it matters. She gave me a call and I went down to get her. The "manager" tried to apologize as we walked by, and I gave him a stern look and replied with "Fuck Off!". They sent up a bottle of champagne to make up for it??? Go figure.

On top of field experience, and the knowledge of your rights as a hotel customer/guest, it takes some mutual understanding between the client and the sp/the agency to deal with obnox' power happy security at times.

I had a similar incident in Montreal , Inter Continental, the one in Old Montreal, a few years ago. One of my regular local sp then, was stopped by the hotel security at around 2 AM. Just by chance, we had discussed about the very same subject during previous rendezvous, so when the front desk rang me in my room, I knew exactly what I had to do, and knew roughly how the involved sp was dealing with the security down there. Once I reached the street level entrance, I just had to asked the security what was the probelm ,and asserted that I knew and was expecting that guest(sp) to visit me in my room, and that if the guest chose to stay long, the hotel can put whatever additional costs on my tap, and that the manager could ring me in my room if there was any problem. Of course the security a-holes just zip their bag and we went on with our rendezvous, no free booze from the desk though. I did walk her down later on.

For sp's : please be prepared to make do and deal with the issue when harrassed by security. I am sure some clients will freak out when rang up by front desk, for whatever reason, and may refused to head down to greet and receive you.

For fellow hobbyists: dude , be a man. Know your right and take care of your lady when needed. ( see post by ed_lepps )

How many times have I posted about this bullshit hotel.

First off the security is bullshit and the hotel management is bullshit.

I had one girl told she was a prostitute and was told to leave the hotel or the police would be called.

It doesn't matter what sort of attitude you walk in there with as they get you by asking for key card or something.

I had to go down and bring her up...she was upset and I was pissed.

This has happened at the Hilton as well.

I assume even though there is nothing illegal for an outcall escort to see a client in a hotel, its still the property of the hotel and they have the legal right to question SP and have a no SP policy.

Therefore its good to know what hotels to avoid.

Even a smaller hotel, Monte Carlo Inn which I used for a couple of trips (in Brampton just a few blocks from Allure Massage) got upset with my mentioning them and a link to their webpage from my report since the person E-mailing me didn't want the hotel associated with such a website (sexworktoronto.com). My last two trips of 7-10 days, I switched very happily to the Radisson Mississauga (and with great $US30/night via Priceline) and have been very happy there with no problems.

I've used the Delta many times in the past and never ever had problems with an SP getting stopped. However I seldom book appointments after 8 pm. Also some of the Agencies in town have asked me the layout and which elevators to use so I'm sure that helped too.

The actions of Delta Hotel security in searching the personal property of this lady are in fact, unconstitutional. Section 8 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms guarantees that Canadians have "the right to be secure against unreasonable search or seizure".

http://lois.justice.gc.ca/fr/charte/const_en.html

Now, granted this section is directed more to protect Canadians from the powers of law enforcement / military instead of private establishments. Nonetheless, Delta Hotel is treading on dangerous ground if they continue this type of behaviour. They should stick with politely asking people to leave the premises.

In any case, when I stay at a hotel and ask a lady to drop by, I always give my full name along with the room number. This way she can legitimately claim that she's here to see Mr. _______ in room _____, and that I'm expecting her. The hotel staff is quite free to call me to verify this if they wish. So far though, this has never happened.

I have never been stopped in a hotel, on the way to an out-call, although I almost always carry a daytimer or wear something that looks like a wedding band on my left finger. If any security guard stopped me, I would be politely indignant although I am not sure I would demand to see a manager. I wouldn't want to attract that much attention. I would ask them to ring my brother-in-law (the client) and follow his queue, waiting for him to either demand I be sent up or deny inviting me. I always keep in mind that it's his reputation/name on the line and perhaps he doesn't want to go out on a limb. That's his call to make.

I don't think searching someone's property (ie purse) is legal, but of course, having said that or it being the law will not prevent a rent-a-cop from attempting to do it. I had a security guard in a marked car follow me on a major road in Mississauga once, when I left a hotel from a call. I don't know if he was employed by the hotel or not, but he attempted to pull me over ostensibly for speeding. I wouldn't stop for him and when we were both stopped for a traffic light, he rolled down his window. When he told me I should pull over, I asked him what authority he had to do that. I told him "aren't roads governed by the Highway Traffic Act which is only enforcable by the Police?" He took off, with his stupid, little light flashing. Sometimes I think these losers are just looking for an ego boost that they wouldn't get otherwise by trying to push people around when they're not legally entitled to do so.

Hotels

I have stayed in hotels all over the United States and Canada and to the best of my knowledge no lady has ever had a problem getting in to see me. Included in this group of hotels is one two night stay at the Delta Chelsa although it was 2 or 3 years ago. I saw an SP both nights (although it was the same one.
The only time that I have even had any kind of a problem is when I have stayed on the special business floors (with limited access). When I have, however, I have always just told the lady I would meet her in the lobby or the bar and there has not been a problem.
Of course, suburban motor hotels present fewer problems, especially if their side doors are not locked. On the other hand, I have never had a lady visit me in a true motel - those would be easiest with their individual outside doors.
