It's not too expensive if you stick with reliable agencies and not fall for the smoke and mirrors offered by some providers.

Didn't read the article yet, but it's definitely getting cheaper when girls who were charging 100 a half hour ten years ago are still charging the same today.

The base charge of $250 is the same as it was 10 years ago so Eps are seeing an erosion of wages in real terms. I think there is considerable "over-capacity" in the industry as more women are entering as the stigma has declined. Many young women are facing financial challenges that make the industry attractive also. Furthermore, men also have a cheaper option of getting off with cam girls that are readily available in the privacy of their own home. So there is lots of competition for a small set of dollars.

Committing the genetic fallacy are we? I am a huge nerd interested in large scale data collection. Even if the article written uses some language that isnt "woke" I looked into the research methods and read the study that they're citing and it's entirely sound. I wish there was more research of this nature being done right now. If youd like to check out other research about sex work the POWER website has a research repository with tons of academic studies. Why should I be ashamed for seeking out knowledge about the changing nature of my industry? Why is the language used in a news article sharing academic findings relevant to the findings themselves?

You're very right about the cost of living. Wages in all sectors have seen stagnation and have not risen with the rate of inflation of goods and assets. We saw a similar economic situation in the 1970s.
I just thought this research was refreshing in light of many members claiming that rates are getting more expensive when in fact there is a myriad of socioeconomic factors influencing that perception that have nothing to do with the actual rates of SPs

I dont see how that anecdote is relevant. Overall sex is getting cheaper, that is all that this research is claiming.

Prostitution becomes legal around the world, including many European countries. This leads to reduction in negative stigma associated with this profession and with using the services. Both lead to higher supply, lower search costs for clients (everybody is "reputable", so, reputable providers cannot charge a premium), and, hence, a lower price. Illegal prostitution makes clients powerless against dishonest providers, hence, allows reputable providers to charge a higher premium. This is why costs in U.S. are much higher than in Canada and costs in Canada are higher than in Germany.

It is a business for entrepreneurs and the market is pretty good at balancing supply and demand. Going rate now is $200as far as I can see, but there will always be some charging less to encourage more volume, or charging more for pristine in call, premium service, etc.

business 101 demand and supply. also lucky for us we are 2 hours away from Montreal, the sex capital of north america.

local providers want to charge toronto rates but the pool of deep pockets in ottawa is not that deep. so they end up touring in toronto mostly some go to vancouver, usa cities and the oil city.
