Yet, another book on the evils of prostitution. This book is written by Julian Sher and portrays some, many, most, all prostitutes as minors. It seems that recent books on prostitution portray protitutes as minors and/or victims of human trafficking (Victor Malarek's book). (Why do agencies insist on advertising their ladies as 19 years old when they are actually 22, 23 or older?) No more "Pretty Woman" themes.

In hindsight, maybe it wasn't such a good idea for those women to challenge Canada's anti-soliciting laws. It has poked the "White Man" in the eye and attracted unwanted public attention to the escorting profession. Old Brazilian proverb: "Don't wake sleeping dogs".

I wouldn't worry about it much. These media types always write stuff that is about the sensationalism, rather than a well balanced view. While it may sell for the first few months, he IS a Canadian journalist and in a year the book will be forgotten and worth $174 a ton when they are shredding it. Anyone remember Kim Campbell's book or Christine Blanchford's?

Yeah, neither do I.

There are different points of view in the media. There is the Toronto Life story "The Secret Life of a Bay Street Hooker" and the TV series "Diary of a Callgirl." These will have "civlian" women rushing into the biz. :))

The Toronto Life article actually seem to glamourize the life of a Bay Street hooker. Or, was it just a smart marketing strategy?

"Somebody's Daughter"

What a melodramatic title.
Of course with anything there are at least 2 sides to every story.

What's wrong with fucking someone's daughter? All women are someone's daughter, so it's normal.

Nothing wrong, just make sure her father doesn't find out or it's trouble for both of you ...unless the girl is looking for a sugar daddy and hates her father...but then it would feel weird fucking a girl that might be your "daughter"...there's no easy answer. ;)

It's supossed to make you think about where the girl comes from...ie she isn't just a nameless faceless fuck.

Thats funny. In high school a teacher once said "Your essay will be on 2 sides of the sheets of paper. A sheet has 6 sides. 4 are very difficult to write on and 2 are very easy. Fill the easy sides."

Good point, jena.

Even though we don't want a relationship - it's a mutually agreed upon business transaction with no strings attached... yet there is still a connection.

I doubt they spend a moment thinking that I'm someone's son though, why is it different and we should think of women as someone's daughter?

Because some of them're forced into it and have a person abusing them while having them work in the sex trade.

I don't think you should, lol. That's the beauty of escorts, dancer ect.
But according to the bleeding hearts of the world all sex workers are in need of help and waiting for someone to treat them as a human....lol ya right ;)

It sounds patronizing to ask men to treat women as if they were someone's daughter rather than an adult with her own free mind with the ability to make her own choices.
If we're talking about women being trafficked or pimped or addicted that's a different story and I know it's happening in Toronto but I avoid that kind of circumstance.
That's a small part of the sex industry here.

There are already laws on the book to deal with these situations. The problem is that LE and the AG feel they need more and more laws when they already have enough existing law for the abusive situations.

Yes, they always are somebody's daughter..question is how would you feel if it was YOUR daughter? Books like the above are nothing but sensationalism but on the flipside the comments of many pooners & some SP's aren't much different. The reality of the sex trade rarely comes to light because the pooners don't understand it, and the SP's know it's bad for business. And why would they? The sex trade is much like the green movement. It's all about perception versus say...actual fact. Just as people will buy reusable bags versus regular plastic bags ignoring those reusable bags are from plastic shipped to China, melted down with coal fired electricity, then shipped back. They don't want to know the reality of the "green" option..just like they really don't want to know the reality of what their favourite SP has gone through. A good pooner doesn't want to imagine that the session before him happened and that..that session may have included a pooner calling the SP derogatory names while pounding away at her hitting her cervix. I mean, after all it's OK to call your SP a "dirty fucking slut" while fucking her because it's ok to tell your black maid to "scrub them floors you dirty nigg*r". Right?

The cruel truth of this trade is that folks expect the government to change it with laws that come down on pimps, etc. But the government outlawed slavery but people still hated black folks. Change needs to come from the pooners & in some cases from the SP's. The pooners needs to see the reality clearly & some of the SP's need to cut with the "rah rah rah cheerleader" shit. But the truth is often bad for business but change can't come without the truth.

Until then the comments in this thread will represent the reality...and therein lies the problem.

You have to ask Chloë Marcelle for sure.

Dunno whether Leah McLaren is going to collect 1% of the donations Chloë received for new businesses after the article is printed in the press.

BTW, if my memory serves me right, it looks like both Leah and Chloë belong to the same age group.

Why not ask them how they feel about fucking someone's son? What's the difference, it's just as silly a question.

We're all consenting adults, not children. It's patronizing to treat women as if they are someone's daughter and not in charge of their lives.

BTW, Karla Homolka is also someone's daughter, does that mean we should treat her with more respect? Of course not.
