Just goes to show you they're everywhere and many won't integrate. What's with painting their beard red orange?
Gothenburgers take over the Islamic State
Somali Abdulkadir Mumin, with a past in Gothenburg, is now said to be the operational leader of the Muslim terrorist organization Islamic State (IS), reports TT.
Abdulkadir Mumin, who lived in Hjällbo during the 1990s and early 2000s, is said to have been radicalized via the Bellevue Mosque where he preached and attracted others to Muslim extremism.
Several of the top leaders of the Somali terrorist group al-Shabab have previously been found to have resided – and been radicalized – in Sweden. Among them is Fuad Khalaf, who is responsible for al-Shabaab's financing and has a price on his head from the United States: 5 million dollars.
Magnus Ranstorp, associate professor of political science, tells TT that Mumin is not formally the IS "caliph", but that he acts as the spider in the web for the organization's provinces in Syria, Africa and Afghanistan. His role is said to be to distribute resources and volunteers to IS-affiliated groups.
After moving to the UK in 2003, Abdulkadir Mumin became known for his harsh rhetoric and links to other jihadists, including Mohammed Emwazi, known as “Jihadi John.” Mumin later returned to Somalia, and has since survived assassination attempts and climbed the IS hierarchy.
Researchers at King's College in London believe that he is now the terrorist organization's de facto leader, writes TT.
The Islamist ideology Mumin follows is Salafist-jihadist, which involves a violent interpretation of Islam that advocates Sharia law and a global caliphate.
