yes, mcguire sure does talk alot, but, what the hey, he has character. some of his phrases are downright awesome! just like tonite..."he got dioned!". some of my personal mcguire-isms..."KABAM!", and "he's a MONSTER!".

He is a good hockey person...but he is just way to over the top most of the time for me. He's too jacked on the simplest of plays. And thats what drives me nuts.
I know he is a very patriotic Canadian, but he sounds american in an 'espn'-ish or 'FOXSports' kinda way.
IMO Canadians don't need to do that to our game. We never have before- I'd like to think that we are classier than that... He just over exaggerates and uses too many expressions at a mile-per-second rate that makes me feel like I'm watching Monday night NFL or NBA or, the Olympics on an American station...

shoulda thought this kinda colour commentating was coming to Canadian sports TV when they 'ditched' TSN SportsDesk for SportsCentre- not much different from ESPN's version except the Americans got the 're' and the 'er' backwards!

....I think Pierre's style plays to the younger crowd, who have been brought up on some of the bombastic sportscasters and colour (see, I spelled that in Canuckian n_v ...lol) commentators in the other major sports.....I'm with you Pro..I'm a little more mature(..read OLDER..lol)...and my lasy ass constitution doesn't really agree with the overhype style of McGuire...but he does have some entertainment value....and has some decent hockey knowledge...

give him some rockem sockem videos to watch. The guy has knowledge but he is a pain in the ass during a game, more than 2 minutes of him is WAAAAAAAAAAAy too much.

With his experience and contacts, Pierre is as knowlegable a hockey persona is there is today. His TV theatrics can get a little flamboyant at times but overall but that's just his passion coming through.
