For the first time ever I will spend it in Florida. Female friend invited me for the winter. Going to shut off the Gas & Electric and head south. My bill was $51 last month. It will be up to $450/mo in the winter months. Fuck that!!

Put winter tires on the car buy a new shovel.
Saturdays nights I will watch the Leafs on HNIC and Sundays I will watch the NFL.

You might want to heat the house to a temperature above freezing - otherwise you may come home to condensation problems in the spring which can particularly mess up ceilings and walls

I'll believe it when I see it. As far as I know, there is a difference between nationally televised games and regionally televised games. Those living in Toronto will still be watching Leaf games.

Never a good idea to shut off the heat in any house in winter - even if you drain the pipes and toilets.

For starters, many types of paints will peel right off the walls.

Hardwood Flooring - hope you enjoy putting down new hardwood cause the existing stuff could contract and pop.

Washing machine - kiss that good bye as new models have water built into them for stabilizing them.

Dishwashers - they'll have water left in them.

Every trap in the house needs water, so unless you want SEWER GAS soaking into your fabrics after you suck all the water out of every trap. (Though I suppose you could put anti-freeze down them.)

Anyway, best to keep the heat on at about 50 F.

This is pretty much my plan too, but I plan on spending a lot of time with my GF too, to keep warm, lol.
Off to the ski and snowboard show this weekend at the exhibition grounds to check out some new skis.

Do not turn heat and hydro off. Just lower your thermostat to say 60 degrees. This will save you on unnecessary heating yet still protect your property.

I'm heading to Florida too but only for 8 days and will be lowering my thermostat before heading out.
