So, I need the communities help...
I have found out through a friend of mine that someone has assumed my identity online. Well, they are using my work photo's and not really using my work name. My friend, who made me aware of this gave me a few details that makes me believe that it is someone I know. He will not send me the emails (I think he might be embarrassed about what he wrote), but instead he sent me a screenshot of the first email that person claiming to be me sent.
I confronted the person that I believe is behind it and he denies it completely. He even has an allibi, but everything points to him. This guy who I think put the ad up claims to have sent the false ad an email and got a response. He showed me a screenshot and it says that the person from the ad is running a scam. It's all very convenient and it wouldn't be hard for him to use another email account that he has to send emails back and forth. What kind of scammer flat out says he's running a scam?

My friend who alerted me to the ad said that originally it sounded like he was talking to a woman, but then it became obvious that the person he was talking to was a man. Also the location that they claim to be from is a small town where I suspect the person who put the ads up is from. I would like to see with my own eyes what is going on. So I turn to you guys and ask if you could contact this ad and find out what is going on. I strongly believe that it is someone I know, but if it isn't I feel really terrible for ruining a good friendship. I would also like to see what he is saying as he is assuming my identity online and I am very concerned about this. I'm pretty confident I know who it is, but this person is going to great lengths to deny everything.

I may not be a "rocket scientist", but can't you create your new email address to respond to the ad, and thus find out everything on your own?

Hi Sinnamon,
There are thousands of scams on Craigslist, especially in casual encounters.
This looks to me like one of those. Typically, the responses are all automated and will use stolen pictures from the Internet as bait and request that you verify your identity by joining a particular on-line hook-up dating site. If you don't bite on that, they will come back at you with another site where you don't need a credit card to register, but really, that is all they are after to scam you out of your money and/or identity.
I can't prove it, but I suspect that is what is going on here.

I dont know how much help this will be, but around the 9th, I noticrf your ad changed to no pics, outcall only and age of 30. That was on BP. There was an old af on CL for around this time also.Again, im not sure if this is of any help or not.

I ended up getting a confession out of the guy after my friend finally forwarded the emails. I finally got enough information to know for sure that it was him. There were too many coincidence for me to even think that it might be someone else. It was very obviously him and he did admit to it after lying about it for 2 days. We are no longer friends.

That lady in the ad I put a few weeks ago is my friend. She was new to the business and since I am not longer escorting I gave her my old clients and made a quick ad for her since I had paid in advance for my ads and they were still up and running, but I wasn't working. I was trying to get her to put some picks up but we were both busy. She didn't end up doing it for very long and asked me to take them down. It's not for everyone, but she was willing to try it.
