I just bought and installed a used AM/FM CD player in my truck. The radio works well and the CD plays, but, when I hit the "eject" button for the CD it only ejects about 1/2 inch and I have to pull the cd out.. feels like its stuck.

I have a can of Electronic Cleaner, a Motomaster product, which on the directions says: ".. is formulated to precision-clean sensitive electronic equipment. Instantly removes oil and other films and is harmless to most plastics. Leaves no residue."

Whatcha think... will this do the job?

I know WD 40 is probably not the right product because of cold weather.

Thanks

Don't do it! Possibly, it is an elastomeric component that relies on friction to move the disc out. Solvents and such may just harden the elastomer and/or cause further slippage.

Well, I did a bit of research and found an old Utube video on a solution to this.

I'll try that next
That could work! It addresses the roller issue with rejuvenator. Please let us know how it works out. I have an old iMac with a slot loading DVD ROM that slips. Maybe, it will work with that unit, too.

Will do, I'm going down to Canadian tire to see if they have a rubber rejuvenator. I'll let you know.

Well, that did not work.. i got some rubber treatments stuff from Canadian Tire, but it made no difference.

I did notice that the CD layer seems to grip the CD strongly on the left, but not on the right... if i recall those UTube videos i saw, that may be a detached or broken roller spring.

So, now its a question, do i take it back to the wreckers to see if they will replace it with a better unit? Or do i try to fix it myself? or do i just live with it since I don;t listen to CD's in the truck anyhow. the radio works fine...
