A report in the globe says that Sleeman is considering "Strategic Options".

One of these could include a sales to a multi-national.

The favourites seem to be:

1) SAB (South African Breweries) Miller : Looking for an inroad into the very profitable yet declinig Canadian market.

2) Molson Coors : Looking for a Premium offering for their portfolio. They represent Heineken and Corona but margins are low.

3) Inbev (Labatt) : Just 'cause they don't want the other two to have it.

Any thoughts on who the favourite would be?

It would suck that we would lose the last Canadian owned nationally distributed brewery.

I like it:

Esco Ale

Fred Zed Lager

We already have Stronbeau! Sleeman represents Strongbow in Canada.

Sheik's Imperial Stout

We'd have pictures of the best SP's on the bottle.

We could do a promotion where the winner would win a full evening with Sinful Selina! Tell me that wouldn't sell some beer!

This is exciting ... now ... we could afford the 300 mil. if we just set aside some hobbying money for a week or so!

Canadians are hewers of wood and drawers of water, we even import many of our SPs and hockey players.
Nobody drives a Canadian owned car or uses a domestic computer or television, we even drive a toll highway that we don't own. We eat food that has been shipped a thousand miles and shop at foreign owned stores, we force Canadian music with quotas.
Maybe I'll pick up a case of Sleeman's and ponder this a bit more.

I like McLay's as well!

If I am going to drink a "cheap" beer let it be one made by Sleeman.

It's really quite refreshing and at $13.95 for 12 you can't really beat it.
