Sir John Keegan, one of the greatest military historians of the past four decades has died age 78.

Among his seminal works are: The Face of Battle (1976), Six Armies in Normandy (1982), The Mask of Command (1987), The Price of Admiralty (1988),The Second World War (1989) and The First World War (1998).
