Hard to keep an open mind about this when they're attacking each other in places of worship, and then saying hey people are getting to get the wrong idea about our religion.

It's shameful.
I wish Canada outlawed religion.

It'll make things a hell easier!

Sikhs have the right to carry a illegal knife, the kirpan, because it is a religious symbol

I wonder if they were drawn and used during the fight ????

An angry Indian? Well, I never...

Don't they justify wearing those knives by saying they're purely ceremonial? Guess they came in handy.

...... and what on earth would make you think that would solve anything or that it could happen? It would have as much chance of happening as Markvee voting Conservative.

Am I allowed to carry my ceremonial Magnum 45 ?
Down in the States its a god - given right to bear arms. That sounds religious to me

I worked with two gentlemen who spent a lot of their youth working for oil companys in the middle east and thereabouts. They both said that ceremonial daggers were never worn anywhere except during ceremonies. I wonder if anyone might be able to confirm this. They both thought it was funny that some folks wear them here in Canada each and every day.

Sounds like it's more political and financial than religious. I guess religion is as big business to Sikhs as it is to Christians.

Considering Sikhs are generally from India, don't know if we're talking about the same daggers.

Probably so, since many Indians (including Sikhs) work in Middle Eastern countries (such as the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, etc.) for oil companies due to shortages of labour in those countries.

I actually think we need new laws. New laws that include the statement "if a crime is committed in the name of religion, an automatic life sentence be handed down"......

This would apply to any violent crime. Basically an extension of hate crimes.....

Why would there be surprise that daggers were drawn? What on earth do you think the purpose of carrying them is? These are older Sikhs. They are men (and I mean that in an admirable way). Many cultures abuse our society's graciousness at accepting others. This is just one more example.

speaking of sikhs, did anyone hear what finally happened to that guy who was charged with not wearing a helmet while riding his motorcycle? His theory was he couldn't wear a helmet over his turban. He was found guilty and I thought he was taking it to the supreme court due to religious prosecution.......
