Is it my imagination or are they making shirts shorter and shorter so that you can no longer tuck the bottom inside your pants? Are they doing this to save fabric? Is this the modern style, to let your shirt tail hang outside your pants?
If you are talking about dress shirts, yes many are being made now to be worn untucked. There are still shirts made to be worn tucked, with a longer tail. You basically have a choice when you buy a shirt which way you intend to wear it.
I buy both. I have shirts to wear with a suit and tie that are made enough to be tucked, and shorter ones that I wear untucked, without a tie, over jeans.
If you wear the long shirts untucked over jeans they hang way down and look stupid. If you wear the short ones with a suit they come untucked, so know what you plan to use the shirt for when you buy and talk to you salesperson about your planned use in selecting a shirt.
