I travel around to China quite often and a few years back was taken to the Manhattan Bar on Tongren Lu - this is a street in the Jingan district of Shanghai (Puxi side of the river). We arrived around 1:00 am and the bar was packed. The majority of the men were westerners and the women...my god the women... there had to be at least 50 to 75 lovely ladies perched on laps, dancing on the bar, on tables etc. The majority seemed to be Filipinas but there was a smattering of local shanghai girls as well. If you are into the Asian women as I am it was like being a kid in the candy store for the first time.
The nice thing about this as I quickly learned was that unless you make eye contact and invite a girl to sit at your table, there is no pestering , no constant approach by unwanted maybe lesser attractive girls. It was like the ultimate fantasy , being at a large party finding a girl you are interested in and you are guaranteed that as soon as you start to show any attention they are interested in you.
Shortly after arriving, by perhaps the second beer (5.00 CDN) i was engaged in conversation with several nice young ladies, one on each leg. There was much dancing, lots of flirt talk which progressed to some DFk and discreet fondling. Another nice point, if this is where you want to get off the ride - go ahead. As long as you have been buying the drinks you can pick up and take off with no obligation. It is customary to tuck a few rmb (150 to whatever you feel is appropriate) into their pocket as a thank you for the good time.
Certainly there is much more on the menu if you want it and plenty of dark corners where I am sure many dirty deeds go on unnoticed.
The lady I spent time with was of mixed Philippine Chinese heritage, around 5'3", gorgeous face, rock hard body, little black cocktail dress; I was in heaven. She kept asking me if I wanted to take her home to my hotel. She promised to "take care" of me all night or just one time if I wished. While I am a veteran of the strip club scene I still had not stepped boldly into The Hobby yet. With much regret I turned Joanne down left her with 250 rmb and drunkenly wandered back to my hotel at 5:00 am. In hindsight I am glad i did because I was too plastered to really have enjoyed the experience anyway.
Flash forward to this past week and a return visit to Manhattan Bar. Armed with my previous experience plus a wealth of knowledge from the wonderful TERB site, I ventured back onto Tongren Lu. There are now several establishments all on a one block strip, Manhattans, Angel -A's, Lucy's Too and at least 4 others. There were also several young ladies hanging around outside trying to hustle you into their clubs.
We stepped into Manhattan around 11:30 and the place was dead. There were maybe 5 or 6 girls but nothing to really get me interested. We took a seat at a prime table and decided to wait and see if the bar picked up. By midnight the place had exploded with easily a hundred plus women. The same mix of local girls and many many Filipinas. I also noticed what had to be 6 or 7 "ladyboys" hanging out at the front of the club. After dancing and drinking with several girls I got cozy with Crissy , a firecracker Filipina who put me in mind of Leilani Lei (an early 90's pornstar if you know her). She spoke great English and gave me a rundown on the whole club. Transvestites at the front because their customers come in quick, make a connection and leave without hanging out. Chinese local girls and couples in the middle of the club and the Filipinas at the back where all the dirty dancing takes place. When we began to discuss plans for later in the evening she point blank asked how much money I had to spend. Having dealt with the Chinese for many years I asked her how much she thought she was worth. From there it was a great back and forth with lots of flirting, rubbing grinding some DFk etc.
She started at 1200 rmb (CDN 170.00)for going back to the hotel and taking care of me one time with an additional 500rmb ($70) to stay and take care of me a little longer. by the end we settled on 1000 rmb ($140) for the night plus money for her to take a cab back to the club (another $20).
I had to pay her half upfront and then she had to immediately go to the club management and pay them 20% or the entire agreed price. from there it was out to a cab and on to the hotel where she proceeded to treat me like the center of her universe for 3 hours.

I half expected there to be a pounding on my hotel door from the police or a "manager" but everything was cool. She as a very sweet and passionate girl and she showed me a great time.
