Seven Year-Old Girl Gets Condom With Her Happy Meal

It was only a matter of time before Ronald McDonald came out with a McHappy Condom...

It may be called a Happy Meal, but a seven-year-old girl whose free toy in her McDonald's meal turned out to be a condom would probably not get a lot of fun out of it.

Suzanne and Rowan Hatch in New Zealand discovered the condom in their granddaughter's Happy Meal.

Rowan said his wife looked in the small sports bag which came with the meal and was shocked to find a green Durex condom and its packet.

"I was pretty horrified really, the fact my granddaughter was going to look in the bag and find this thing. It would be difficult to explain, she's only seven", he said.

A McDonald's spokeswoman said because of the popularity of the previous Happy Meal gift which had sold out at that outlet, pre-packaged sports bags were substituted as children's gifts. But one was left unsealed for display purposes and "somehow" it had ended up with the customer.

"It sounds like... someone has actually come along and thought they were potentially clever or funny - of which they were neither - and put this in", she said.

Staff at the McDonald's swapped the meal for a hamburger and a pencil case.

Oh shit, sorry, this was in New Zealand, not the U.S.

If this was the U.S. we'd now be hearing about how traumatized the girl was (or could have been) and was undergoing extensive therapy to overcome this situation.....

Just goes to show some people are not even mature enough to enter McDonalds.

I guess this answers my question as to why the one time I was in McDonalds and there was a toy on display that my one boy wanted and the lady behind the counter said they were all gone and they were not getting anymore so I said why not let him have the one in the display then. I was then told they are not allowed to give those ones out. But still are their display cases different there because I notice here that those display cases are sealed up? Does each McDonalds operated differently about if those toys are handed out in the end or not? Non the less it is sad that someone would put a condom inside of a kids toy. It is sad to think that we not only have to look out for the actions of kids but adults too. They're old enough to use condoms but not old enough to act responsibly.

Sorry Stacey, but you're mistaken. The condom wasn't in a kid's toy, the McDs ran out of the toys and had substituted a sports bag. The condom was probably placed inside the sports bag at some point.
