OMG !!!!

A 66-year-old man from southern Colombia had to have his penis amputated from complications arising from trying to please his new girlfriend by taking an overdose of Viagra.

The anonymous man, said to be a local farmer and former municipal politician, was left with an erection that wouldn't fade but became painful after a few days, according to Colombia Reports, an English news organization based in Medellin.

Doctors told the frisky senior that his penis was "inflamed, fractured and showed signs of gangrene, and had to be amputated to prevent the inflammation and gangrene from spreading to other parts of his body," Colombia Reports reported.

"The patient showed bruising on the testicles and penis, was treated and is recovering well," the local newspaper, La Nacion, was told by a medic.

There was no information on the age of the new girlfriend or if the couple is still together.

If you have an erection lasting four hours, that could be signs of a serious condition, which is what this poor fellow had it seems.

Is viagra a dangerous pill to take?
Viagra has some very nasty, but very rare side-effects. For instance, it can cause permanent blindness.

The severe side-effects are very rare. As such, on average Viagra is safe. The typical user will never notice severe side-effects. However, I wouldn't want to be in the 1 person in a million that does. Essentially, Viagra can restrict the blood supply to certain organs to the point of causing tissue death, and whether it is your eyes, your dick, your heart - it all sucks.

Overdosing Viagra can lead to Priapism, which is what seems to have happened here. I wonder why they had to amputate though? I would have thought antibiotic flush and blood draining would do it...

I don't know the cost of Viagra, but it probably isn't cheap. Lipitor (also made by Pfizer) for cholesterol is pretty damned expensive. The senior is from Colombia so the cost of Viagra might be extremely expensive and he might have taken a knock off pill and too much of a dosage. That might be the cause of his problems.

That's one hell of a side effect bTW: "inflamed, fractured and showed signs of gangrene" I'm surprised the doctors were actually able to operate after seeing that!
