So I figure someone in this community might have a bright idea for this...

I want to send some money to someone electronically, but I don't want any (ANY) of my personal information made available to the person I am sending it to... Kinda like I only want to be identified by my first name kinda deal.

Interac is out. Paypal is out... Same with Western Union

Any suggestions?

Maybe sending a gift card?

I know that most company like sephora, starbucks have e-cards that you can send to an email address. Probably very secure as well!

Good luck and that's a very kind gesture :) Will surely be appreciated by the lady!

That's kinda how this started... VS... can't send electronic gift cards outside the US. La Senza can't to it at all... just a physical card and it seems to take DAYS to get there.

Hard to believe in this day and age. Maybe Amazon should get into the SW Gift business...

Just thinking out loud here.

Go into your online banking, change your settings to a new e-mail address, something on gmail or Hotmail, etc.
Send an e-transfer using that e-mail.
Once done, go back in and reset your proper e-mail back to the account.

Have not tried this, no idea if it would work, just tossing it out there.

^ It does work. Change your name and email for your E transfer settings only. It's a different setting than official bank notifications and confirms what information you wish to be shown to the recipients who accept your payment. If you happen to bank with TD (among others as well), I can vouch for this personally.

+1

Tons of ladies use e-transfers for business transactions, including paying for advertising on the boards.

Ah... that might be simple! I shall investigate.

And I did and it seems to be fine!

Thanks Mr. B.

And as an afterthought, if you plan on doing this kind of transaction on a regular basis, open an account just for that purpose.
That way there won't be any virtual paper trail back to your real accounts.

It really is that simple. There are always threads about deterring members who express interest from wiring money and it forever baffles my mind. Baring potential SO concerns, the ability to mask your identity exists...

Wait a minute. Is this for a Canadian to Canadian account transaction or US to Canada/vice versa? Because then, you'll have to work a bit harder to circumvent that difficulty.

You might also want to look into BitCoin transfers, but I have no idea how that works. It's supposed significantly more secure since it was designed from the ground up with privacy in mind or so I have heard.

Of course the proviso of trusting the other party applies as once the cash is collected your recourse is zip.

It's a gift, so there's no expectation of getting it back.

I had to cancel an appointment somewhat at the last minute due to a flight delay, and I wanted to pay for the appointment anyway, even though the lady understood. I won't have the opportunity to see her again for some time, so sending the funds seemed like the right thing to do. I enjoy seeing this lady and I consider this small compensation for her trouble. Having said that, I appreciate it's still "business" and hence the need for privacy... it just keeps things simple.

Just within Canada, but a good hike away!

If you know her name, phone number and her bank name, you can do direct cash deposit to her account. They don't ask ID or anything. As we know very easy tp give money for the bank and hard to get back from them. :) Example: If she has TD account, you can deposit cash to her account in any TD bank in Canada.

This was a provider. If he wishes to maintain discretion, I'm sure she does too.

Exactly! I send e-transfers all the time from my own account. I've even sent from one account to another of mine, and you don't see the real name of the account holder, just the pseudonym (example, 'John' from 'john@gmail.com').

You right. I missed that she is an SP part. I answered his first question where he just ask to send money to someone, and I thought he knows her. I thought it's maybe a birthday gift not a compensation.
