Welcome all fans of the game of hockey. Since you have chosen (or been forced) to root for the Ottawa Senators in their run to glory it is imperative that you first leave all myths, propogated by the media and Leaf fans alike, at the door.

Today your education begins.

Myth #1: The Senators are a team full of euros.

Truth: 13 North Americans, 11 Euros.

Myth #2: The Senators play a boring trap game.

Truth: As do all teams who wish to win in the modern NHL, Ottawa protects leads with solid defence in the neutral zone. This tactic is usually employed within the last 20 minutes of the game, while speed through the neutral zone and strong forechecking dominate the first 40 minutes. Ottawa comprises of several quick, agile, and exciting players who play an "edge of your seat" free-flowing style of hockey.

Myth #3: The Senators are heartless pansies.

Truth: While Ottawa has unfortunately earned this title with uninspired playoff hockey in previous years, they have made great strides in removing the cancer from the dressing room and bringing in heart and toughness this year. Anyone who has watched the Senators play through the season and post-season are aware that they have not been physically dominated by any team whatsoever and on most nights have carried the physical play.

Myth #4: The Senators are playoff chokers.

Truth: While not having the luxury of experience and deep pockets to have immediate playoff success, Ottawa has built on it's base of star players and are about to take their place as a bonified playoff contender. Considering that in the Senators 11 year history only 7 of the 32 teams have won the Stanley Cup, Ottawa is in good company.

While this covers the top myths surrounding the Ottawa Senators I will be happy to answer any questions you have concerning the best team in the NHL!

This concludes our lesson...oh and by the way...GO SENS GO!!!!

Goober, i have one leg on the bandwagon. If they can get by the Devils, they should be able to handle the Ducks or the Wild or the Canucks.

Here and there
Goober -- great hockey team, but the dour-looking dude on the logo of the red road/black third jerseys has got to go. He looks like Snoopy doing the vulture bit...

And those will be the home jerseys next year. Ugh !
