I know that on MLS.ca the prices of homes for sale are listed, but I was wondering in how to obtain the actual selling price of homes. While doing some preliminary googling I found that this is public information but I can't find anything.

Thanks.

The easiest way that I am of aware of is to call a realtor and ask to speak to an agent. They will/can give you the final selling price. The only risk you run with this is that the agent then may decide to try and sell you a house. Depending on how persitant he/she is it can become a pain.
There may be other ways, ie contacting the lands and titles office, but I am not sure.

Thanks 666, thats what I'm trying to avoid.
Hey, we're not all that bad! P.M. me with the addresss you're interested in, and I'll get you the info. Obviously this will be anonymous for you, as we're all "hiding" behind our TERB handles here... If you'd like to move ahead with selling or buying, then you can "come out", and we can perhaps do some business.

Actually, I believe final selling prices are now protected by privacy laws. Agents are not allowed to reveal that information anymore. You'll have to ask the seller for the price, and he has no obligation to tell you.

Selling prices are part of the public record. You can get it at the Land Registry Office, but it will cost you. Not sure how much, but I think it's around $5 or $6.

Agents just can’t publish the selling prices in flyers and stuff where specific properties are identified, but they can use and give out the information if it is part of legitimate work.

The link posted that gives the selling prices of condos is not supposed to be done, whoever is doing it just has not been caught yet.

If you want the selling price for your property and want to avoid real estate agents, you could call an appraiser.

Once an agent has your address, he will also have your name, because they also have access to registry information.

Wow, I really had no idea of the amount of paranoia about real estate sales people! Makes me feel a bit poorly about the reputation of those of us who work in this business, and are just trying to a) make an honest living, and b) provide good, needed service to our customers...Whenever I've been spoken to by any sales people of any kind whose services are not wanted by me, I just very politely, yet firmly, say something like "thanks for your offer and for the information, but I'm really not going to be needing your services". (Just say NO).

"imBob"...cannot send you "pm" cause...

your stored messages box is too full. # 77 sold for $410,000 (couldn't see # 72 on the system, maybe due to it's having been an "exclusive" listing?)

I don't think they are. If you have the right access, all sales prices are listed on TREB, not to be confused with TERB.
