live by the sword die by the sword

In a rather macabre bit of irony, a self-professed "gun nut" who was a YouTube channel producer for fellow gun enthusiasts was found fatally shot in the head in his Carnesville, Ga., home on Jan. 3. Police are investigating the case as a homicide.
Keith Ratliff, 32, was a channel producer for the popular FPSRussia firearms channel on YouTube, according to FoxNews.com. The channel boasts 3.4 million subscribers and has more than 537 million video views. The videos largely consist of a man with a Russian accent test firing various high-powered firearms. The channel is ranked as one of the top 10 channels on YouTube.
Police found numerous weapons at the crime scene, according to WSB-TV. Some of the weapons were even manufactured by Ratliff himself. "He (Ratliff) did sustain a gunshot wound that was not self-inflicted,” Mike Ayers of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation told FoxNews.com.

Sad, he had a 2 yr old. No struggle so it looks like he was ambushed or murdered by someone he knew or gained his confidence.

For people to take pleasure in someone's murder is pretty sick.

must be some mistake. I saw an expert on Piers explain that you are safe if you own a gun, safer with lots of guns. Bet Obama's involved.

Obviously he didn't have quite enough guns.
I'm sure the NRA will be all over this soon and fix these kind of problems.

Actually the data does show areas in the US with higher legal gun ownership rates (rural areas) do have lower violent crime and murder rates. It is politically incorrect to tell the truth that its the inner city street gangs responsible for much of the violence and murder.

Laughing at a guy's death. You all lose the right to claim to be compassionate or to care about human life, full stop.

Looking at his videos, I thought he was pretty harmless and quite the entrepreneur, as well he was just having a good time playing with guns. But when you put a youtube channel together testing guns and ammo, many are gonna come to the conclusion you have a pretty valuable collection of guns. And sooner or later, someone will try and steal your wonderful collection of guns. If he was smart he would have sold endorsements to gun stores and thanked them for lending demo weapons. Not sure if the killing was theft motivated, but I would not be surprised if it was.

+1

What this really indicates that whomever killed him took him unaware, and hence was likely to be someone whom he had invited into his house and therefore likely knew.

What a shocking piece of news. Rural areas have fewer violent crimes and murders than big cities. Brilliant. I see a Nobel Peace Prize in your future.

What a shocking piece of news.
Then again there were three cases in the U.S. just this past week of homeowners who had to protect themselves against home-invasions. In each case police were called and the situation was all over by the time they arrived. In each case if the homeowner hadn't been armed it is likely that very bad things would have occurred.

I'm not talking about the actual number of crimes Einstein, they have lower rates of crime.

crime rate = the ratio of crimes in an area to the population of that area; expressed per 1000 population per year

Inner city crime is a problem but it's not the only problem. If you take a look at the FBI's stats on gun deaths you can see how many gun deaths are due to drugs and gangs..... they only make up 1000/13000 murders (the 1000 comes from narcotics, gangland and juvenile gangs)

http://www2.fbi.gov/ucr/cius2009/offenses/expanded_information/data/shrtable_11.html

This is not to say that there is not a problem in the inner city. It is real. I'm just not so sure that I'd say the are responsible for much of the violence and murder overall.

I actually like FPSrussia's videos. I've watched many of them. I was always amazed at the crazy stuff he could get his hands on. I thought getting your hands on something like the aa-12 fully auto shotgun would be difficult.

Not true. Gun violence and firearm homicides are substantially higher in more rural, less urban states. For example, NY state (with population comprised nearly 50% of NYC) actually has firearm homicides 25% LOWER than the US average.

See page 10 & 12 of the following report

Let me correct myself. Categorizing municipalities as either rural or urban (regardless of state urbanization level) shows virtually identical levels of gun deaths, but with higher gun homicide rates in more urban area and higher gun suicide rates in more rural areas.

The following is an excellent report, and the results are summarized in the excellent graphs in Figure 2
