yeah. after Crosby's first season the Penguins still finished 29th in the league and dead last in the East.
yet, he managed to get 102pts. If, Tavares could accomplish 50 points, he did alot more than Stamkos did in his rookie campaign. and Steve isn't too shabby now.
btw- it did sell seats having Crosby scoring and being at the bottom- which may be the main priority of the Islanders right now.

yes. he's a class act. a few know that Crosby is his mentor. though they play on opposing teams in a rivalrous division, he and Sid keep in close contact with one another... there's kind of a nice story about this on the Pens website somewhere. if I see it I'll post it here.
prior to game 1, Tavares spoked with Crosby about gm 1 jitters. Crosby told him to 'relax and that a career is not defined by what happens tonight... just enjoy the moment' JT scored a nice goal in his first NHL game.
anyways, after game 1 ended between Pens/Isles Sid went down to the other end of the rink to get the game puck- gave it to the ref and said, 'make sure John gets this puck and tell him to keep it.'
the ref replied to Sid, 'John who?'... lol, unbelievable.
