For those interested in investing , this video might give you some insight into how big money moves around different sectors and how to possibly take advantage of that theory as opposed to just simply buy and hold strategy.

"Sector rotation is the movement of money invested in stocks from one industry to another as investors and traders anticipate the next stage of the economic cycle.

The economy moves in reasonably predictable cycles. Various industries and the companies that dominate them thrive or languish depending on the cycle.

That simple fact has spawned an investment strategy that is based on sector rotation. Even those investors who don't base their entire strategy on sector rotation would be wise to anticipate the cycle."

IMHO Sector rotation is for big investment funds. You need to know what is going on in the markets, world news and events and see the big picture, but sector rotation is seeing much more than you need to see as an individual investor. I think to see trends is the micro version of seeing sector rotation.

I don't think it's ever wrong to learn more about something you are interested in. It's just another tool in the tool box. If it helps to get better understanding of current events, it's worth it.
