Searching for a 3 letter name?

Hey All - new guy here to the boards but not to the 'scene' so apologies if this comes across as an uneducated or is asked in the wrong forum:

How does one go about searching for info on this board, using the search feature, for a provide with a 3 letter name - if one tries, a message appears stating that more than 3 letters are required?
