Life events will put me in Sudbury and S.S. Marie.
I visited the club in Sudbury last fall with mixed results....and Under the Bridge (in S.S.Marie) like a hundred years ago.
Tips, advice, dancers you may recommend?
Sorry, I'm a little late to the party here, but I've been to all three clubs in the last year. I was born in the North, but I haven't been to Northern SCs much in recent years. Attendance at Northern SCs has decline along with other Ontario SCs in the $20 era. Here's my brief take:
Sudbury:
Solid Gold-- A fairly nice club. Well maintained, and regularly cleaned. It's a box club on the outskirts of the city. Has the most attractive dancers in Sudbury, better looking gals than in the Soo, and would at least be competitive or better with the girls from Fanny's in North Bay (back in the day). The club has no door or VIP fee, is $20 per song, and the drinks are moderately priced from a GTAer's perspective. This club attracts a 'better' clientèle than Diamonds. The dancers tend to be the 'classier' locals, and out of towners form Southern Ontario and Montreal. The in VIP mileage is better than a tourist trap in the GTA, but you shouldn't expect much more than good dances for $20 per song, and little / nothing in the way of extras. My last trip out it was dead as it was early in the day (and I was on my way to the airport), but there were a handful of dancers, all attractive enough. I went to the VIP with a mixed race (white / ?) brunette who was young, just a little soft, and looked pretty damn good-- She did hint at take-out. Her mileage was actually pretty good given my experiences with the place. The VIP is a good size and can be private depending on how crowded it is and how far away from the entrance you get. On busy nights I have seen a bouncer 'standing by', but it's been a long time since I've been there while busy.
Diamonds-- This is the seedier downtown club in Sudbury. The most distinct feature is the large open doorway between it and the rock bar next door. No door or VIP fee, songs are $20 per, and the drinks cheap. While downtown Sudbury has superficially cleaned up in recent years this place is as grungy as ever (along with the rock bar next door). The dancers are usually a little dicier than at the Solid Gold. They tend to be locals and the mileage is good. I actually haven't been to the VIP here in years, but indications from the group I was with is that there can be some good action to be had in the VIP. Not extras per say, but some of the dancers can get wild if you're the right guy. The VIP is neither all that big or all that private, but it's also not all that monitored. I suspect take-out is as available as it ever was. While the place is seedy it can be a lot of fun, and it does let you try your hand at the rock bar next door (, or on the street outside, but I wouldn't advocate that in general, AND BECAUSE of the eye in the sky and the sheer amount of LE and regular anti-prostitution sweeps downtown).
The Soo, or Sault Ste. Marie:
Studio 10 (AKA- the place under the bridge)-- A bit of a run down dive. Songs are $20 per, no door or VIP fee, and the drinks are pretty cheap. On the weekends and in tourist season it has a lot of Americans, and the mileage is good by their standards (not necessarily ours). The dancers are mostly local but the club does attract some out of towners who are often the best lookers in the place, IMHO. The VIP is quite large with some decent nooks. Unfortunately for as long as I've been going there, it also seems to be quite regularly patrolled. My last trip there I hit the VIP with an older local gal who was OK, and was trying at a good over the pants rub. She really wasn't my type, beyond being a real Soo gal, and there was far too little privacy, so I bailed pretty quickly.
