Big Whoopie ! We scored 13 seconds into the game. Then racked up 3 more to lead 4-0 with 7 minutes to go in the first period ...... hehehe. If we'd stayed healthy it would have been another 7-0 rout, no doubt about it. We were skating circles around you. You guys looked minor league.

When the full effect of the flu spreading through the team kicked in we had 5 players in the dressing room on IVs, another 2-3 on the bench with high fevers (Rachunek, Redden, White, Hnidy, Neil, Pothier, Havlat and Philips), Hossa our leading scorer off injured and 6 players on the injury list (Chara, Spezza, Vermette, Varada, Volchenkov and Fisher). By the end of the game we were down to 6 players sitting on the bench.

I admit Lalime played a poor game and needs to shape up. But at least two of the goals were flueky - one off Tucker's skate and the other loose puck around the side of the net.

So congratulations for winning. A lesser team might not have been able to beat a fever racked Sens team. The game's done, it's over, you got lucky and caught us when we were down. See ya next time.

Thanks for the concession speech. A lesser man might have made excuses! :p

As your fellow Leaf fans are realizing on the other threads, you beat a team with 15 players down. Good effort anyway and I mean that seriously.

Jim:

Hey, I acknowledge you're right in what you say about the Senators being handicapped by illness. But if only you hadn't been so extreme in your remarks before the game, people wouldn't be gloating now. If the Leafs and Senators meet in the finals, just turn down your advocacy a few notches, like to 11.:p It'll just be a whole lot more pleasant that way.

Better yet, I am sure you were gloating after the first period and half way through the second.

Opps, what was that...the sound of Lalime dropping the ball- AGAIN!

Not gloating yet, the Sens in my opinion have a more talented team. BUT, the Leafs have more heart!

See ya in the playoffs- when the games actually mean something!

Now the excuses---when You beat Toronto with a depleted team 7-1...all I saw was gloating. I bet half way through the second period you were not trying to make excuses---Be honest--were you? NOT.
Any team up 4-0 and ends up loosing 5-4, flu riddled or not better look deep down to find the problem.

Yes, the Sens had the flu run through their team. Yes, they looked tried as the game wore on. Fact, they were spoted a 4 goal lead - on their home ice no less. They lost to the one team that they messure their success by. Excuses don't win championships, heart does. Leafs proved it last night.

Whereever I am now
Well the leafs did show heart .. no doubt .. and it was a good game (That looked like it may have been a blowout early on) ... BUT it was a Feb. 5 game ... before the All-strzzzzzzz break .. NOTHING really matters till April !

When heart or no heart the LEafs (and Sens) will disappear..

(just being realistic 'm afraid)

I know what the Sens fans are thinking now, if only we could have signed Rob Ray in time for this game, or maybe traded for an NHL calibre Goalie, like thats going to help. The Sen's have NO leadership and no heart. And regarless of what some idiot on this board said and I'm not going to mention any names. The Leafs will be there in the End. Besides i already have my Stanley Cup tickets.

The Sens had 10 times more heart than the Leafs. You beat a depleted team. Guys like Hnidy, Neil, Havlat, etc. who were on IV but came back to play should leave no doubt in anyone's objective mind that the Sens have grit and muscle. So you know what you can do with those crow feathers.

I don't think just any team could have come back the way the Leafs did so, in that respect, you guys played well. Yes Lalime played poorly (albeit, with his defensive stars in the dressing room) but you still managed to put a few in the net and it's not every team that could have beaten the handful of healthy players we had. But it wasn't a fair match up. You got us when we were down. But for the flu, the rout was on - 4 goals with 7 minutes to go in the first - you guys were shell-shocked.

Can you say denial? The first step in getting better Jim is admitting that you have a problem.

Got news for ya! Lalime is not that good! He's getting the heat he deserves from the those in Ottawa for a reason! He proved he can't hold a lead and is not the goalie he was from last year!
If the Sens and Leafs meet up in the playoffs and Lalime is in net. I love the Leafs chances to beat them!

Flu asside, it's part of the game and Leafs had their big guns out of the lineup as well!

The Sens also play the trap and couldn't hold the lead, all heart from the Leafers last night and they showed their depth in doing so for the victory!

Looking forward to the next matchup...
