I am wondering what people have seen or gotten recently in the way of pay rasies.....

Cost Of Living index....how much is the going rate?

What do you feel are reasonable pay increases?

I'm not sure what people have gotten, but with the price of gas/oil and the global cost of staples like wheat/rice/bread going up, negotiating for a cost of living increase would be a strong position right now.

I don't think we've even begun to feel the effect of the high gas prices yet. Eventually the cost of delivering things via planes/trains/ships/trucks will have to factored into the retail price of the goods being transported.

This year will easily be a 3% increase year.

My boss just told me I got a raise to the second floor. Problem is, that's the roof. So I guess my raise is thru the roof

I think we may be entering a new reality. I'm not sure ho we can expect third world labour to forever subsidize our lifestyle. As countries like China create jobs, and provide services and products at prices we are unable to compete with, I have very little reason to think that wage increases are a big part of the future. As the economy continues to globalize, I'm concerned about where the point of balance lies. I'm almost scared of a wage increase. In the back of my mind I'm afraid its one step closer to unemployed.
...oh, and by the way, I got a great $50 bbbj from a girl I met on quest.

I said it when Lyin Brian brought it to us and I say it now...free trade brings our standard of living closer to the third world....not the third wold closer to us...

The problem with Stat Can cost of living rate is that it does not include things such as gasoline. I'm not sure... but the cost of gasoline appears to have doubled in the last four years or so or on average about 25% per annum.

Consumer Price Index (CPI) which increased by 1.7% includes gasoline. The All items excluding gasoline which increased by 1.3% of course as it says does not.
Thanks for pointing that out as I presumed otherwise. Just about everything in my budget has gone up significantly more than what Stats Can is reporting. In regards to wage increase, and from what I've heard 3% cola increase appears to be about average.

The boss where I work at pays for the hotel room and an escort once a month. One day his wife called his office one day and he wasn't there. Since we are friends, when he got the message that the wife called 5 times looking for him, he told me that he was going to call the wife and tell her that he was in the warehouse taking care of a problem with theft. He asked me to vouch for him if she happened to ask. Since she did ask and I covered his ass, he takes care of me big time. He pays for the room, calls 2 escorts 2 hours apart and foots the bill. He leaves to see an escort or MPA at least once a week, but one can't get greedy.
OK. Not the type of work environment I want to be in, but if it does it for you.
