It appears that millionaires can still be provoked at any time by a commoner for money.

Details of the suit:

The suit will charge that Crowe hurled a ceramic bowl at Mercer Hotel clerk Nestor (Josh) Estrada after hitting the 28-year-old Brooklyn man in the face with a thrown phone - an attack captured on video, according to sources familiar with the incident.
The bowl shattered against a wall near the clerk's head, according to the sources. After the predawn explosion - witnessed by two other employees at the SoHo hotel - Crowe took a deep bow and assumed a karate stance  , the sources said.
Much of Crowe's lobby act was captured by a hidden security videotape camera, the sources said.

This has been typical of the Hollywood types for decades. Every generation has their bad asses and morons. These two named above are just "new" hollywood trash. The real stars ( and there are a number of them ) don't even rate 4 point headlines in the news rags.

as for Bogie and Tracy, both of these men were at one time or another, Hollywood hot heads, and the studio's had to bail them out more than once.

Gable was a womanizer and a drunk, his only saving grace was that he was so well protected by the studios at the time that he was like telfon, nothing could stick.

Well Jost, not to defend anyone's actions but would the result have been the same had say, you or I thrown a phone and a plate at a clerk? I think not. More than likely we would have been either asked to leave the hotel, and or arrested for assault. And guess what? NO one else would ever hear a word about it.

Only reason the suit is on, and we all know about it, is cause of the fame of the perpetrator. No other reason......

your post seems to imply that it is a common everyday occurrence for guys to go around physically assaulting others and we shouldn't be so hard on Crowe cause he only made headlines cause he's famous. don't know about you, but I don't go around throwing phones at people that irk me

you're probably correct that the studio-backed star system back then prevented public exposure of stars' misdeeds. The only really big public scandals of that era that I can think of that almost destroyed the careers of A-listers is when Erroll Flynn got busted for statutory rape and Bob Mitchum's drug charges

I don't understand at all what these celebrities have got to be angry about???? They make zillions of dollars, do not hold full time jobs, get admitted to the best clubs and resteraunts, bang tons of gorgeous models and actresses etc. etc. Ok, getting constantly harassed for your autograph might put a damper on things but come on here.

Yup, Russel Crowe is a dick. :p

Not necessarily.

If you have any assests, say a house for example, you could just as well be sued as Russell Crowe could be sued.

I think he deserves what he gets.

He's a moron to do something so stupid.

I love the line by his lawyer, "He's gone on national TV 3 times to appologize"

Fuck you and the horse you rode in on. That's way too easy my friend and you aren't going to weasel off the hook by just going on letterman and have some chick suck your dick and swallow your gift in the green room right before you go on TV and do what your shyster tells you to do.

ha.

Personally, I hope they throw his ass in jail where it should be. Then see how tough mr. crowe really is.

I agree 100% .

Crowe goes into a karate stance??? WTF is that??
Let him serve some time in jail and go up against hardened criminals. We'll see if his orange belt can save him then :D

AT $15 million, it is the most expensive phone call of Russell Crowe's life, and he didn't get through.

The actor is expected to pay the huge sum to a concierge he attacked after being unable to get an outside line from his New York hotel room as he tried to ring home.

Maybe he was calling for an SP and couldn't get through? ;) We've all had that feeling before.

IMHO, the hotel clerk seems like a royal wimp. So the guy threw something at you? Welcome to customer service. Tough it out until you get a real job. I mean, c'mon, Russel Crowe in a karate stance? I would have cracked up laughing!

Though, it doesn't surprise me that he had Crowe arrested and is now suing. I figured that was going to happen.

Crowe can throw all the phones he wants at me if it means I'm going to be an instant millionairre.
