At age 16, I went to see him at the Crang Plaza ballroom, on a Sunday afternoon, no booze of course. I think it was his first visit to Toronto in 1957, singing his big hit Forty Days, also Bo Diddley, Who do you love, etc. Also his back up band, The Hawkes featuring Robbie Robertson who IMO was a most underrated rock guitarist. It was my very first live concert of many many more I have seen over the years. I also saw him at the Concord Tavern as an underage drinker which was a favourite hang out of mine. Saw Levon Helm there in later years and many others that I can't remember, too many beers at age 19?? Perhaps. He loved living up in cottage country, loved women, many women, had pancreatic cancer years ago, should have died then but said he was having too much fun. RIP Ronnie.
