The restuarant is very good and there's also a nice pub downstairs.
Is Yonge and Hwy 7 too far east? If not, Terra's is another good choice.
How far north can you go? Michael Stadtlander has a masterpiece with Eigensinn Farm, but it's up near Collingwood. Dress code is casual though.

If you like Italian food, Il Cavallino at 8077 Islington Avenue north of Hwy 7 is very very good, authentic, family-run resto.

There is a Wendys at the service centre on 400N just north of Wonderland. If you want to get classy, take her to Tims for dessert.
Seriously though, Rosa's at Hwy 400 & Finch is the classiest and most romantic around. They have dancing Sat night and she will be impressed by all the famous people that visit Rosa's.

I have been to a little restaurant just south of Major Mackenzie on Keele, east side of the street. It is maybe half a kilometer south in a strip plaza. I just cannot remember the name of the place, even though I have been there a few times. Great Italian food and wines and dress up if you wish, as I did.
The reason I mention this restaurant is because they have a small private room. I do mean small. One table, although it is for six.. It makes for quite the evening, believe me. There is a door to the room and the waiter will leave you alone

While not exactly in your chosen vicinity, I can't say enough good things about Hashimoto on Dixie, North of the 401.
