ExpressVu vs. Rogers
I had Rogers for about twenty years then switched to Bell ExpressVu about three years ago. Both have advantages and drawbacks.
Bell often has specials where you get rebates and programming credits so the cost of the dish, etc. is practically nothing. With Rogers they were always wanting me to upgrade my descrambler with increased per month rental fees. It may have to do with the type of descrambler I had but seemed that especially after a power outage you had to call them to reset the descrambler and it could take a long time on hold waiting.(Supposed to be able to do it yourself but didn't always work).
With Bell, I find their rates slightly cheaper and you can add certain channels without taking whole bundles. The draw backs are that you must have a clear path to the satellite and even a tree branch blowing in front of the dish on a windy day can disrupt the picture. Sometimes the picture can be a bit jerky( which is annoying especially when watching sporting events like hockey or car racing). Also the signal can be lost in bad weather (this summer seemed especially bad and I don't watch that much tv anyway). You get more stations with satellite with major networks having at least an east coast and west coast feed.( The CBC is shown in about 5 different time zones). But instead of local stations especially with american networks you get Boston not Buffalo. Also the weather network is an all Canada feed not your local forecast. And of course you lose the local Roger channel.The Bell picture is slightly clearer though.
I am fairly satisfied with Bell, and happy not to have to deal with Roger and their poor customer service. Hope this helps.
