Define travel.

If you are going outside of the service area, I wouldn't recommend either of them. You could easily run up hundreds of dollars of costs trying to be online outside of service areas. These sticks are generally NOT a very good option for someone who travels outside of the Rogers or Bell service areas (like into the US or Asia, example).

Check each one for the roaming data costs, make sure they operate at reasonable costs in all the areas you are going to be in, otherwise don't do it.

If you travel within your service area and you have an iphone or Blackberry you have another option.

You can share the access from your iphone by tethering your phone access. I tested a coworker's iphone and her laptop's Internet access ran very well when it was configured to use the iphone for internet access. I read the same can be done on a Blackberry.

I would not recommend connecting your Blackberry and using it as a modem. A co-worker did this and ran up to $3,500 in charges in one month.

This Rogers stick is great for basic browsing and VPN access, we use them at work, the charges start at $35 per month for .5 Gb, 45 for 1 Gb, $55 for 3 Gb and $85 for 5 Gb. However Rogers does not have a upper limited so the charges can get our of hand.

Tks BB....that makes a lot of sense!

What about situations where you will be in USA for couple of months and you only want to use your laptop for light browsing / email etc (no downloading)?
Can you make a short term arrangement with Bell / Rogers for a stick? or are you locked into a another long term contract for the laptop?

I have Rogers Broadband on my home desktop and take my laptop for stays in the USA, but I have to go to 'hot spots' to use it! This is not always convenient!

my travelling would be working in my in-calls and also when I am on shoots for my porn website. mostly for when I am travelling on the train and need a connect 6 hours to montreal can be boring. without watching my tv shows on the net.

If I am outside of canada I would using internet in my condo or in the hotel I am staying in.

I woudl say you wouldn't want to be using a usb stick outside of canada. That would be very, very expensive. You would be better to look for available wifi at that point. Cross the border, I would pull that usb thing out of the computer and leave it out until I got back home.

Via Rail has onboard wireless access. You should be able to connect using your built-in wireless, no need for a stick or anything else, and probably a lot cheaper than a phone company's plan.

By the way, if you are bored on the train, some people use these weird things called "books". They can actually keep you occupied in just such a situation, as well as enhance your knowledge of the world. Might be what you are looking for:

If that's not your thing, I notice that many ladies of a certain nature prefer a somewhat more user-friendly device called a "magazine":

Enjoy!!
