Here you go:

nntp.bloor.is.net.cable.rogers.com = 66.185.95.104

my manual say to enter "news" as the server, but this doesn't work. neither did nntp. that's why I say that name resolution doesn't work (it's a techy term). unless someone can give me the IP address for the DNS server at Rogers.

can you go to a DOS window and type in "ping nntp" and give me the IP address that comes back? that would be a number that looks like 66.185.95.101.

thanks. P.

Really Retired.....REALLY!
If you are directly connected to your cable modem putting "news" in the server name feild should work.
If you access the internet through a gateway, or cable/dsl router you will need the full server name as posted above.
I believe you can hook yourself up to any of the news servers you wish but they do have different news servers depending on the service area in which you live.
To be safe and to make sur eyou are using the right server just give rogers tech support ( i know it is an oxymoron) and ask them for the full server name for your area.

The same goes for mail servers too.
