Question for the tech-heads and audio-visual enthusiasts.

I currently have a Rogers digital terminal with high def and a hard drive for recording. I love it and highly recommend it. I am however getting close to the limit of the hard-drive, what with all my recorded Idol and 24 episodes. One of the options that the PVR gives you is to off load the recording to VCR. I hate video tape and would prefer offloading to a DVD. I was thinking about getting a new PC (HP media centre with all the cool video cards and inputs) but I do want to get a dedicated DVD Player/Recorder.

My questions are, Can I offload to DVD Player/Recorder (Which I am Sure I can) and secondly if I have a DVD that I want to duplicate, can I do this on a DVD player/recorder? Would I need a unit with multidisc capabilities or because some of these systems (Toshiba and Panasonic) have a harddrive built in, is only a single disc system necessary?
