Rogers Cable Scam!

Back Burner

In Protest! See Location!
Maybe not a Rogers’ scam but something is fishy.

A few months back I called Rogers to cancel those extra channels because I was getting a dish. They told me that it would take a couple of days to remove. Well it has never been removed.

So........a few weeks after that I get a call from Rogers internet about a new promotion to try Rogers High Speed for 4 months for 29.99 (I think or 24.99). I agree and they say they'll send someone over in a couple of days.

The guy comes, sets me up, I ask if I have to sign anything, he says no. He leaves.

So....I get my first bill, it's almost $100! WTF! I call Rogers; they say I agreed to internet, extra outlets, and extra channels. "What! Where did I sign up for all this," I say. "Well that’s what our service person has written down." After calling them a bunch of crooks and that I didn't agree to anything but the internet, and refusing to pay for anything, they said they would send someone over to take care of it. I said I want the same guy! They couldn't promise anything.

If it wasn't for my new email I would tell them to fuck off and jump to Bell!

Still pissed!

I've got a couple of dixie cups and some nice string, and it's cheap, only $14.99/month. Come and get it. Oh, and we have a 24 hr. help line, you just have to guess which 24 hours it's open.

Stop whining about it, they all suck if you ask enough people. I have Sympatico at the office, and it works fine, only had to call the help desk a couple of times in two months. When I had Cogeco cable, it was monthly, but for the most part was fine, except when you needed a service call and had to sit at home waiting from 9am to 5pm, and they inevitably came at 4:55pm. You're dealing with a big company here, people. Use your people skills and get the bureaucrats that actually run the company to do what you want. When our DSL went down at the office, and our office direly depends on the computer link being a financial company, I sweet talked the lady on the phone, and it was fixed in about 10 minutes, when she originally said it might be a 3 - 5 hrs. You attract more flies with honey than vinegar.......if you want to attract flies anyway.

Coolguy.

It's not a scam.

Rogers probably gives commission to the install techs for pushing you to sign up for extra services. You've been burnt by the con-job installer, not Rogers itself.

You should also have had to sign the service order granting permission to do the work and confirming receipt of the services. If you weren't asked to sign that, it's because your friendly local installer filled it out and signed it for you so they could get an extra commission.

Rogers can and will find the tech responsible when you clarify those details to them. If they still insist on trying to rip you off based on the bad contract info, just inform them you'll be speaking to your lawyer, and do it. If your lawyer is worth spit Rogers will be paying for your legal costs, wasting your time, refunding any overcharges, court costs, and possible penalties/fines.

Just make damned sure your story is straight and true. If you signed a contract you didn't understand, you don't have the legal clout needed to collect legal costs, only to recover overcharged fees.

No commission?

Well, that blows this theory out of the water...

in a house...somewhere....i think
I can tell you from personal knowledge that roger techs (in-house or contractors) DO NOT get commisions. In the end, after an install, it's rogers and rogers only who decides what goes on billing. rogers is the one getting the money from the contract you sign in the end remember.
LOL
you'd think they're trying to make up for their losses because of the satelites or something!!

Bottom line ..it sucks...its happened to myself and many others i've talked to as well. But personally, i'm not willing to switch back to dsl, so i guess i'll just go back to bending over now
scuse me
