I watched the Montreal F1 race and when the accident happened I thought the worst. Glad to see he's OK, after surviving a 75G hit! I thought that was impressive until I read about David Purley - 173kph to 0 in 66 cm - 178G!!!!Unbelievable!! And that was in a car that would be like a cardboard box compared to the strength of today's cars.

Nice find. I couldn't believe the idiots who jumped and cheered at the crash.

I'm a race fan and when I see a crash like that my heart is in my throat. Being a Senna fan, I didn't sleep right for a week after his fatal Imola crash.

I guess some people are race fans and others are crash fans.

What really amazes me is the level of fragility that exists in the inherent design of an F1 car vs NASCAR and yet Kubica was conscience with a broken leg less than an hour afterwards. Compare that to Dale Earnhardt Sr's crash and it's amazing Earnhardt died. I know about the HANS device but it's still remarkable the level of engineering and safety innovation in the cars themselves. Kubica's crash and survival kind of shows why F1 matters in terms of automotive evolution.
