....base on his performance so far....I think he's done a terrible job

Dude drafted Rafael Araujo ....said he was the most NBA ready when every GM considered Rafael Araujo a late first round pick....could of got Iggy(76 ers pick) which everyone considered a steal at 8th.

Up to this point Araujo has been a bust and from all indications...the best he can be is a bench warmer(from other team's talent evaluators)

Babcock was given the Raptor schedule and as GM was given a choice to contest it with the league....but did nothing....Raptors have the hardest early schedule in league(like tonight's game...they play back to back- yeterday in toronto...then they fly to huston which is a different time zone for one game then fly all the way back)

the vince carter trade.....while vince carter's value is way down.....but essentially Babcock gave vince carter away for bit players and another team's problem (Raptors are going to pay 10 million to buy Alonzo out so he can sign on with another team).....so let me get this straight...you give a 15 pt per game player in return for a guy who will never play for your team and on top of that you have to pay for his buyout while his contract still counts against our salary cap.....great work GM

we also get 2 first round picks....but they are 'protected picks' meaning the best we can pick is 9th and above....and given Babcock's evaluation of talent....it means 2 bench warmers

Bad Babcock bad

Time will tell if he's a skilled GM - but I would agree that based on his performance thus far - he's failed to impress.

I agree that his performance has been sub-par what with the Arujo draft and the give away of Vince. However, he inherited all of the current problems and is trying to find a way to solve it. He also had the maple leaf boad of directors breathing down his neck and i don't think he gets as much freedom as you would think. We'll just have to see how this little melodrama works out.

Protected picks are only protected for a certain time frame. If the pick ends up being protected this draft, I believe the pick is held over for the next year with less/no protection. It means more time for us to assess the value. I won't comment on the trade and Babcock as GM until I see what else he plans to do.
