He was a good man, when his younger sister was shot to death he took it upon himself to raise her daughter. He couldn't control his weight or didn't want to and had both his legs amputated due to diabetes.
He was a better wrestler than he's given credit, he had to do the job for Andre The Giant but it got him over. Hulk Hogan is a stiff who can't work with smaller faster wrestlers (he never did a match with Ricky Steamboat) so Kamala had to repeatedly do the job for him. One of them was the Wrestlemania Main Event but memory doesn't serve me.
Decent man RIP.

Made me laugh in an interview when he talked candidly about how he got the Kamala character. The man's never been to Uganda! 
As far as the Kibosh on the character, I laugh because the same people would be talking about how amazing "The Joker" character was in the movie. I'm entertained, that's all that matters to me. And Kamala played the character so well he is going to be remembered for decades.
