Jimmy Carter became president with the goal of serving his country, while Donald Trump pursued the presidency primarily to avoid legal troubles and to benefit personally from the nation's resources. Trump's supporters largely come from the working class, striving to improve their difficult circumstances. Many of these supporters also feel that they are unfairly subsidizing other countries, such as Canada.
The global economy is already in a recession, and Trump's leadership risks deepening that recession or even plunging us into a depression.
