I have seen many get rich and rich people go broke What are your rices to rags stories?
When I was very young, there was a family that was in the clothing trade. They did very well selling to the department stores. up until the mid 80s things went very well for them. They had large homes and expensive sports cars. Towards the 90s clothing manufacturing went over seas. I saw one guy from that family a few months ago, he now drives a Suzuki sedan, he use to drive Porsche and MB.
I knew an eager beaver that came from a poor background. He was determined to make it big any way he can. He built a company in the construction trade in Quebec and the company grew like crazy. That is, up until two years ago. That was when there was a lot of talk about the organized crime and corruption in the construction trade. The police started up the Marteau Squad ( hammer squad ) to looked into corruption. Then the Charbonneau corruption inquiry started up. Everyone was afraid to offer or take a bribe. For the last two years this guys company did no business. The only this guy was able to make money was to get into bed with organized crime and take contracts with inflated prices and later kick back money to the mob. His $1.5 million dollar house is for sale.
