Ribfest On Canada Day at Centennial Park

Has anybody been to this free outdoor event? I am a huge rib lover and i'm just wondering if the ribs people are bbq'ing up are free to sample or you have to buy them. What else goes on at this weekend event?

I went last year. You have to buy the ribs (I don't remember seeing any samples), and they aren't cheap - it's a charity event, but not sure how much actually goes to the charity and how much goes to the rib vendors. Also, the lineups can get crazy. I don't really remember very much from the event last year, other than thinking than I wouldn't return.

I went to the ribfest at St Lawrence Market on Saturday. There are maybe 8 or 10 businesses engaged in a competition for best ribs and trophies were awarded.

The ribs I tried were not cheap but were far better than any I have ever had in a restaurant. It takes many hours to properly slow cook ribs and these guys have these huge smokehouse/slow cookers on trailers to do them. They then finish them on a grill in front of you with a bit of BBQ sauce. It was superb.
