I’m a total foodie ❤. I love trying new restaurants all over the city. What are your top restaurants in the city? Any hidden gems?

I heard great things about this wonderful pop up Asian place called 'Ahri's Ass 'n Kitty".
Apparently it is fine dining at its best. Tough to get a reservation though. Would love to give it a go.

I was expecting 🍑 eating jokes but it being the first reply made it even funnier 😂😂

Maybe I should open up a food truck called “Ahri’s 🍑

Would you guys line up for that?

My co-worker is quite the food critic. He fancies restaurants on the Michelin list

But here at Des R's., we are serving tossed salad all-night long. 😜

In my case, any lady who loves dato just elevates her into rarified air and i cannot ever forget such ladies. And, given your expressed affection for this..and i saw your name on this post...some primordial force just drove me to such a silly response fair dinkum lol.

But now you mentioned "Ahri's", I envision a standard food truck with a service window, but to the side there is a porthole ...the customer at the service window looks at the menu and says..."ya know, I'm a bit randy today i'll take the grande 10 minute..no, wait, how often am i downtown? I'll up it to the venti 15 minute dato" Then you take the cash and sidle about and stick your bum out the porthole and the timer starts and customer dines away lol.

OK back on topic.
Had a great steak at Baberians, but don't know if the locals think it's overrated but everything was spot on well prepared. And, thus it might not classify as a hidden gem, which I too enjoy finding. Back in Oz we get only grass fed beef for the most part so it's healthier than the corn fed USA stuff but it's usually a wee bit tougher. Hence I was impressed. I rarely eat beef at home, cuz restaurants get higher quality cuts than supermarkets, and they can also get higher cooking temps to get a better crust.
In a more hidden gem category, usually people are taking me to dinner because I'm in the gta on business and thus I can't remember the names of places, but it was a nice but fairly basic looking restaurant down town but I had a simple 3 different cheese grilled cheese sandwiches (like 3 half sandwiches) w home made chips was shockingly good. Apologies I can't recall the name.

I recently had dinner at Chako Korean BBQ at Tuscany Place in Woodbridge, it was sensational.

...and I finally figured out what Kelsey Grammer was singing about.

@Ahri

Susur Lee moved his "Lee" restaurant from King West to Richmond St between Spadina and Bathurst. Really nice space and fantastically creative menu, perfectly executed.

His signature Singapore-Style Slaw is a party in your mouth, best shared by two.

Another of my go-to dishes is the wild caramelized black cod but the new place has some new dishes that I am in the process of trying out.

So far from the new menu items I LOVED the Burrata a la Club Chinoise and the Tuna Ceviche with Trout Caviar, citrus rococo, Asian pear, confit tomato, balsamic and mala chile oil!

Of course their "Signature" Smoked Bacon Cheeseburger Spring Rolls are so delicious!

Desserts? Black Sesame Creme Brulee in pastry gives me a mouthgasm! Same with the French and Chinese tong Yuen which is a warm hazelnut chocolate rice dumpling with a sesame creme anglaise blueberry sauce!

Check out the menu... and it is a beautifully executed comfortable elegant space.

Go to the Junction located in Keele and Dundas St W. There are a variety of bars, restaurants, cafes and bakeries there with patios. Would recommend:

When The Pig Came Home - a delicatessen with the best meat cuts in the city

Issan Der/Chiang Mai - both great Thai restaurants. Would recommend Issan Der for affordability.
1723669787676.png
Chica's Chicken - was granted a Michelin Star for casual restaurant. Has nice chicken sandwiches especially if you like spicey.
1723669826240.png
Indie Ale House - if you like to drink beer would recommend this place. Has tasty tacos and sandwiches.

Honest Weight - Good seafood place. Would recommend the clams.

Pho Huong - Good Vietnamese restaurant. Love the pho here.
Curry Twist/Leela's Indian Food Bar - Pretty good Indian food from both. Leela's has better atmosphere though.

I am not a great fan of Italian food but a group of us recently went to SORRENTOS, on Don Mills Rd. north of Eglinton. They have a very wide selection including many seafood dishes. Had jumbo shrimp with pasta, veggies with a great Italian tomato sauce, best thing is there servings are HUGE and reasonably priced, EXCELLENT.

I never been to barbarians but I always wanted to go 😃 my inner circle doesn’t know I work this job so it’s sometimes hard to suggest places that are not in everybody’s budget 😅

Went to The Waterworks Food Hall. What an awesome place! I hope it becomes popular so the new restaurants survive. The Well food court is also really interesting and good stuff there!

If you guys like Hakka food this is my recent favourite it’s from a restaurant called Chung Moi on the east send (Scarborough)
I love that sort of food and when I'm in Malaysia and Singapore and Indonesia eat it every single day. And it's cheap too. A plate of char kway teow which leaves me 100% full for dinner costs $8 CAD in Singapore, $5-6 CAD in Malaysia.

I actually never been to the well yet. Is it as nice as everyone says it is? I was thinking of doing a Sweat and Tonic class there one day 😃
