An attacked on Venezuela is an horrifying escalation by an out-of-control president launching military action against a foreign nation without transparent evidence of wrongdoing. Such a move would signal a grave abuse of power and, many would argue, a breach of U.S. law, demanding immediate action from Congress rather than its usual silence. International law may also have been violated, given the apparent absence of a formal declaration of war, meaningful warning or justification, and global condemnation would be all but inevitable. What exit strategy exists for the United States in such a scenario, beyond the dangerous normalization of unilateral force or the grim suggestion that the president himself is unfit to be in office. In this short second term, Trump would have pushed the world perilously close to midnight on the Doomsday Clock, this latest move has brought us only seconds away. I predict that there may be significant resignations from the higher ranks of the U.S. military over this matter
