I don't know if this is posted in the right spot or not, I am looking to install a good app to block texts for an android phone, I have read reviews on some and people say that you cant message your other contacts when using some apps, some reviews are mixed as well, any help would be appreciated.

Which texting app do you use?
Doesn't it have it's own 'blacklist' or 'block' option?

I use just the text messaging that is on my phone, it doesn't have a blacklist or block option, I'm with virgin mobile (a lot cheaper for me) chatted with someone from virgin mobile they said with my phone that best way is to use an app to block numbers

What i did was make a contact name, ignore set it up under options not to ring or vibrate etc. then copy and paste the numbers into the contact. works pretty good. Also have the app. Auto Block i think it was $1.99 wrks good and easy to use. good luck.

I'm android and I'm not using my stock text app.
I use Textra and I do see that it has a 'blacklist' option in it's settings. I'm sure there are many alternatives but you can give this app a try. I've been using this app for over a year and so far I haven't had any trouble with it at all.

Tho I have not had the chance to use the blacklist option, but I can assume that it helps block out unwanted numbers.

When I had a Blackberry, I'd use Call Blocker Free.

I now have an iPhone, and low and behold it has a build in Block function which is awesome. My old BB never had that. In order to block stuff from the source, you had to call up Bell and pay some money to allow the functionality. But since it was a company phone we weren't allowed that, so we at work had to download free apps.
