I think I might have been nabbed by a red light camera. I didn't see a flash or anything but I was late going through the intersection and it was a red light camera intersection.

This isn't a post about how to get out of the ticket.

It's been about a week since the incident but I haven't received anything in the mail (it's probably still early). However, I renewed my license plate today without any problem.

If you have an outstanding ticket, are you able to renew your plates or do you have to wait until you've paid the fine? In other words, since I was able to renew my plates is that an indication that I don't have a ticket on the way?

I don't think week is very long for the bureaucracy to get the ticket mailed to you. lets say you did get nailed and it is in the system, but not yet processed, I think they'd be hard pressed to nab you at license time, since it's not overdue as yet.
Here's hoping you didn't get nabbed tho .

Was the light red when you entered the intersection? It doesn't count if it turned red while you were in the intersection.

the photo you get in the mail will show your vehicle at the white line of the intersection and the light will be clearly red then the second photo will show your vehicle half way through the intersection and the light clearly red. There will be no doubt doubt it was a red light you went through if you actually did. Pretty cool technology but a heft fine to go with it.

I entered the intersection when it was amber.

I thought you had to clear the intersection before it turns red?

you should be on the safe zone.

You renewed your license plates because it takes a while before it goes in the system. They will mail you the ticket to the address that the car is registered too.
No points. But, the ticket is 325 $ and not 180 $ anymore.

The ticket should be mailed to you within 2-3 weeks after the incident. IF you were caught though ..

Can't say if they snaped you or not, but if they did, it was way to closer to your renewal date to count as a defaulted fine this week. If it even was a ticket it wouldn't factor until your renewal until next time.

You are a good driver, young man, go to the head of the class. But the cameras are arranged to keep the less thoughtful from clogging the courts, so you get a tad more time in that intersection.
