recommended podiatrist for custom orthotics?

hey all - happy new year!

i'm looking for custom orthotic insoles and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good podiatrist/chiropodist for this?

I can't recommend anyone as mine has recently retired, but the best advise, no matter whom you go to, is choose someone who offers the one piece molded orthotics and not he one that look like they are put together like Lego blocks with a glue brush. The former is much better, especially in the long term. They may be more expensive up front, but last longer. If you can afford it, get two pair. The second pair should be half the price, since all the measurements are already done. It also save you switching them in shoes all the time.

Then you got ripped. Mine work wonders and have since I got them. It's nearly time for the next round. If yours failed so badly ,did you complain? After the first set I made some suggestions and the next set were like clouds, offering up absolutely no more knee, or foot discomfort at all, and I'm not always walking on streets and sidewalks.

I had a bad case of plantar faciitis... my chiropractor showed me how to help it heal and referred me for some orthotics.. but in this case suggested I simply get Birkenstock insoles. $45 from any Birkenstock dealer and I've been using them for about 8 years now with very good results. So, maybe you don't NEED custom orthotics... for $45 it would be an inexpensive experiment.

I was on the verge of doing this a few years ago. I ended up buying some Birkenstock insole supports and wore them with Rockport shoes. Never had a problem since. BTW it was not a question of money as the podiatrist and orthotics are covered by my insurance and the Birkenstocks are not. Good luck though. Foot pain is debilitating.

They are contoured like the Birkenstock ones, with very good arch support, and made from dual layered memory foam. Very comfortable, and great support. Last insoles you will ever need to buy. They have several different versions, so pick the style that suits you best and save $550 minimum.

For me i actually need the custom orthotics. Severe overpronation and a wide foot. The Dr even reccomends the best shoes for me. No pain or issues for over 10 years now, everything is alligned correctly and i feel great.

I agree to a certain point depending whats the problem. Many times if you have a high arch a insert like the birks or powersteps might do. Heelspurs.com has a tremendous amount of info.
I found that losing weight helps a lot if you have high arches.
