I`ve heard that the real reason he was left off was that he and his wife never trusted Eagleson right from the start the way most of the players did at that time. Eagleson had a lot of influence over who made the team and wanted to screw the people who didn`t like him.Ref said:He was left off of Team Canada (he had a shitty 71-72 season).
I believe he was left off because he had signed with the WHA. Same reason Hull and Howe were not there.ottawasub said:I`ve heard that the real reason he was left off was that he and his wife never trusted Eagleson right from the start the way most of the players did at that time. Keon left the Leafs for the WHA in 1975.eric42 said:I believe he was left off because he had signed with the WHA...
How in the world could you tell how intelligent Dave Keon is?Yahweh said:Too bad he's too dumb to do a tell-all book.

Ever had a conversation with him?
A decade after both his and Brian Spencer's careers were over & Spencer was in deep trouble with the Law in Florida (Murder charges I believe) Keon went down to Florida to support Spencer, a former teammate who played maybe three or four years with Keon.
While Keon may or may not be intelligent (I suspect he is very intelligent) his actions with Spencer indicate he is a man of character who sticks by his friends & teammates.
In my opinion for that alone he deserves some respect. The fact he helped win four Stanley cups for Toronto (A Conn Symthe winner no less)is another reason to show him some respect.
Lord knows it has been awhile since someone brought a Cup to Toronto, why shit all over the last guy to do so
