If I had the coin I'd have one simply because I think they're a work of art. The level of detail in the molding process etc is amazing. I tend to think that people (men?) who get emotionally attached to them kind of have a necrophilia fetish because no matter how realistic they look, they are effectively "dead" lays...(literally lol).
60 minutes did a segment on an older couple who had 3. They didn't have any kids and it almost seemed like the dolls were surrogate kids. The woman spoke of one like she had a personality. On that same subject (not to hijack the thread) but an interesting topic came up on Boston Legal: It was about a guy who went to a shrink to deal with the emotional turmoil he was in due to the death of his father. During treatment though the shrink brought up all these repressed memories that were too painful to bear and the patient committed suicide. A stat was discussed that 40% of people who go into therapy get worse instead of better. So maybe they don't know everything?
But I should think that if someone can't form real relationships then they should get some help. Wouldn't life be a waste without knowing the true affections of a woman?
As much as I bitch about them I wouldn't have traded my good, and bad, relationships for anything........

My main reaction to the documentary "Real Doll" is sadness. I find it utterly sad to see these guys connecting with a doll in a way that they can't with another human being. There's something fundamentally wrong with our world if it creates guys who prefer to spend their time with a Real Doll instead of a breathing, thinking, talking, and feeling woman.
