I think the best thing is to try and avoid any area where you will be alone.
Watch elevators never get on if a single man is there ( This advice comes from a man ) . Don't assume a man will give up if you hurt him , might work if he thinks your struggle will attract attention but not with some really vicious rapists if you are isolated and he thinks he can make you pay for hurting him or can identify him. Some want to rape some might rape and kill so avoid like I said areas where you are alone. If you do hit run like hell, don't stick around.

I am writing a paper relating to this and very recent sources seem to contradict many of the recommendations here.

Rape crisis centers, cops and medical professionals are beginning to dissuade people from fighting back unless they are close to help. people who fight back where they are isolated end up turning a basic sexual assault into an aggravated sexual assault and it is speculated that some sex-assaults have ended up becoming homicides due to the escalation in violence that occurs when one fights back.

If your in the middle of nowhere and likely can't escape one might be best to tolerate the assault and survive with the least amount of trauma.
