note, the poll question is different than the thread topic....
my ranking from 1 to 8 in terms of exciting hockey:
Chicago/Calgary
New Jersey/Carolina
Anaheim/San Jose
Pittsburgh/Philadelphia
Anaheim/San Jose
Washington/New York Rangers
Vancouver/St. Louis
Montreal/Boston
Detroit/Columbus
some will no doubtedly pick the MTL/BOS series high as A) CBC dominant coverage and B) the extensive amount of fans of these too clubs. However, I liken that series to watching a car crash in a nascar race. It sucks to see elite skill massively underperform... to the spoils goes Boston as they will be perhaps the freshest team for round 2 in the east.
I love the Pit/Philly series as a fan, but to see San Jose pour on so much offense and get stopped by a little goalie named Hiller is outstanding hockey. San Jose is doing everything right.... but, you don't hear much about that hear in the East. too bad, 'cause again Marleau and Thornton will take the blame for this when in fact both have outperformed Crosby and Malkin in all crucial stats (blocked shots, shots on goal, offensive zone possession, time in offense, hits) accept the ones that count... goals, assists, wins...
funny how NJ played a boring hockey system for many, many years and now they don't... yet people don't stop and look to realize this. Carolina, yes under PM they are boring in some regards (especially neutral zone) but, because NJ was the king of the NZ trap for ages, they know how to best beat it. great series.
Chicago/Calgary has so much excitement built into it that it has to top my list. 1) Calgary has to overcome their league's worst PP problems. 2) It is a tremendously physical affair. 3) To see the young Blackhawks play so loose, so fearless is a real treat.
